For Students: The Carnegie-Shillinglaw Endowed Award for Academic Excellence in Internal Medicine
This award recognizes graduating fourth-year osteopathic medical students who have received the highest academic scores in the systems biology courses coordinated by the Department of Osteopathic Medical Specialties, and with exemplary performance in their clinical years. Further, the donors hope that this award will encourage students who have demonstrated capacity to achieve educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve these goals, and the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress.
For Educators: The Golden Apple Award
The Golden Apple Award at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) is a student-voted teaching honor presented by the Student Government Association or specific graduating classes to recognize outstanding faculty members for their dedication to medical education. Department of Osteopathic Medical Specialties recipients include: Dr. Peter Gulick, Dr. Mary Hughes, Dr. Laryssa Kaufman, Dr. David Strobl, and others.
